- La Unión Europea aprueba proyectos de apoyo al desarrollo para Argentina, cofinanciados por el Gobierno nacional
En octubre de 2007, la Comisión Europea suscribió el Programa de Estrategia País de cooperación de con la Argentina, asignando 65 millones de Euros para el período 2007-2013. Las prioridades de cooperación a las que se dedica esta estrategia se enfocan al fortalecimiento de la educación y capacitación y el desarrollo de capital humano en Argentina, apoyar la mejora de la competitividad económica y fortalecer las relaciones entre la Unión Europea y la Argentina
En el marco de este acuerdo, el 11 noviembre de 2010 la Unión Europea ha aprobado el financiamiento de 35,1 millones de Euros para la Argentina - que alcanzan a más de 70 millones de Euros con los aportes del Estado argentino - para la financiación de cinco programas de cooperación en áreas centrales para el desarrollo y la cohesión social.
Específicamente, este financiamiento está dirigido a la financiación de las siguientes acciones:
a.. Programa de Educación Media y Formación para el Trabajo - Fase 2. Este programa va ser implementado por el Ministerio de Educación de la Nación para proveer una oferta de educación secundaria y formación de calidad para más de 23.000 jóvenes de sectores vulnerables.
a.. Programa para el Fortalecimiento de la competitividad de las PYME y la creación de empleo en Argentina. A ser ejecutado por el Ministerio de Ciencia, Tecnología e Innovación Productiva, este programa se enfocará en mejorar mecanismos gubernamentales para la transferencia de tecnología hacia las PYMES existentes y apoyar la creación de empresas basadas en nuevas tecnologías.
a.. Programa de Diálogo sobre Políticas Unión Europea - Argentina. Este Programa tiene por finalidad fortalecer el proceso de diálogos sobre políticas y la cooperación entre la Argentina y la Unión Europea para promover la inclusión social en la Argentina a través del fortalecimiento de las capacidades institucionales para la implementación de políticas públicas. Será ejecutado por el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores, Comercio Internacional y Culto.
a.. Mejora de las Economías Regionales y Desarrollo Local. Este Programa se enfocará en atender y dar respuesta a las necesidades locales de las micro, pequeñas y medianas empresas del NEA y NOA a fin de contribuir al desarrollo local y a la resolución de problemas comunitarios. Será ejecutado por el Instituto Nacional de Tecnología Industrial (INTI).
a.. Erasmus Mundus Argentina. Esta tercera fase de la ventana exclusiva para Argentina del exitoso Programa Erasmus Mundus será implementada por universidades de la Unión Europea y la Argentina, las cuales desarrollarán proyectos específicos de becas de posgrado para graduados argentinos.

CABN (CENTRO ARGENTINO BRASILEÑO DE NANOCIENCIA Y NANOTECNOLOGÍA)
- Convocatoria para la realización de Escuelas 2011
El CABN recibe propuestas para la realización de 2 escuelas en Argentina sobre temáticas relacionadas al área de Nanotecnología. La convocatoria estará abierta hasta el 30 de enero de 2011. Los interesados deberán especificar:
1) Título de la Escuela
2) Responsable de la organización
3) Temática (no más de tres líneas)
4) Profesores participantes (a confirmar)
5) Sede donde se desarrollará la escuela
6) Fecha y duración. Número de horas estimadas.
7) Número de alumnos argentinos y brasileros que podrán asistir
8) Características de la Escuela (teórica, teórica-experimental)
9) Presupuesto solicitado (desglosado por ítems: viajes y viáticos, material de consumo, etc.). Se cubrirá hasta un monto máximo de $30.000
El documento no deberá exceder 2 páginas.

- Summer Institute 2011 course on Climate Information for Public Health - New York (USA)
The Summer Institute will be run by the International Research Institute for Climate and Society (IRI), in partnership with the Center for International Earth Science Information Network (CIESIN) and the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
This two-week training course offers professionals who play a research role in operational public health decision-making the opportunity to learn practical methods for integrating climate knowledge and information into health decision-making processes through expert lectures, special seminars, focused discussions and practical exercises.
The Summer Institute will be held at the Earth Institute, Columbia University, Lamont Campus located in Palisades, New York, USA between May 16 and May 27, 2011. Due to the limited number of participants (12), it is recommended that applications are sent as early as possible.
The application deadline is February 11, 2011 and only online applications will be accepted. Early application is recommended.

- 4th International Congress on Energy and Environment Engineering and Management - Mérida (Spain)
The 4th International Congress on Energy and Environment Engineering and Management - IVCIIEM (www.ciiem.net), wich will be held in Mérida from 25th to 27th May 2011, is organized by teachers belonging to the Areas of Engineering of the Polytechnic Institute of Portalegre (Portugal) and the School of Industrial Engineering of the Extremadura University (Spain). This congress has the main target of joining academic, researchers, engineers, consultants and firms from the Energy and Environment Sectors, in order to interchange experiences, present advances and new projects about the rational and efficient use of Energy and the Energetic Conversion Systems, and also to analyse the different solutions focused to reduce the impact caused due to energetic systems on the environment and the environment preservation, concerning other activity sectors and society.
The presentation of the papers will be made orally or by means of panels or posters. All summaries must be sent by e-mail to ciiem at estgp.pt
The publication will be made not only in the summary book but also in CD-ROM format with the whole content of the papers. Therefore, those communications having enough quality (once the revision process is passed) will have the possibility of being published in International Journals.
This 4th edition will also have a publication edited by the congress itself, where those articles which haven't been selected by the editors for the scientific journals, will be published.
We will also have prizes for the best works in each area, certified by our organizing committee and we will also select the best works of young researchers.
Finally, on behalf of the Organizing Committee we would like to invite all the Scientific Community to participate in this project, presenting papers or communications related to any of the proposed areas.
- Course "Ecology and Conversation of Neotropical Rivers"
This two-week course is oriented towards graduate students and early career conservation scientists from both U.S. and Latin American institutions with interest in applied research on current conservation issues for Neotropical rivers. The course will be held at La Selva Biological Station, with field trips to the surrounding Sarapiquí River basin. This region offers opportunity to observe diverse river types and aquatic biota along elevational and longitudinal riverine gradients. Additionally, as in many parts of the tropics, rivers in the Sarapiquí basin are increasingly being altered as a consequence of human activities.

- XIVth IWRA World Water Congress

The XIV World Water Congress continues a tradition of meetings designed specifically for water resources professionals - practitioners, researchers, decision-makers, and others. A triennial event of the International Water Resources Association (IWRA), the recent Congresses have been held in Montpellier (2008), New Delhi (2005) and Madrid (2002).
The XIV Congress will address Adaptive Water Management: Looking to the Future. The ISC, composed of members from regional and international bodies, universities and research organizations, has planned four central themes:
1) adaptive water management
2) water resources and global change
3) governance and water law
4) knowledge systems.
