1st ANNOUNCEMENT: MEDYFINOL'04
XIV Conference on Nonequilibrium Statistical Mechanics and Nonlinear Physics
La Serena, Chile, 6 - 10 December, 2004
http://www.dfi.uchile.cl/~medyfinol04
Dear colleague,
On behalf of the Scientific Organizing Committee it is a pleasure to invite
you to present a contribution to the XIV Conference on Nonequilibrium
Statistical Mechanics and Nonlinear Physics (MEDYFINOL'04) to be held at La
Serena, Chile, from December 6 to December 10, 2004.
MEDYFINOL is a traditional and regular meeting of the statistical and
nonlinear physics community in Latin-America. The XIV Conference follows a
series of meetings that took place in Colonia, Uruguay (2002), Cordoba,
Argentina (1999), Canela, Brazil (1997), Tucuman, Argentina (1996), San
Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina (1995), Montevideo, Uruguay (1994), Mar del
Plata, Argentina (1993), Mar del Plata, Argentina (1991), Santiago de Chile,
Chile (1990), Puerto Iguazu, Argentina (1989), Mar del Plata, Argentina
(1988), Lujan, Argentina (1987), and Lujan, Argentina (1986). As example,
the last edition of the conference, which took place in Colonia, Uruguay
(2002), was attended by more than 150 participants from 15 countries:
Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, France, Germany, Ireland,
Italy, Mexico, Turkey, United States, Uruguay and Venezuela. The
corresponding proceeding was published as a special number of Physica A 327,
Nos. 1-2,
1 September 2003, Elsevier.
Statistical and nonlinear physics are research areas that have developed a
multidisciplinary character with many applications in biology, economy,
sociology, engineering sciences, chemistry, etc. The purpose of the
MEDYFINOL series of meetings is to keep the scientific community updated
with new developments and tendencies in the statistics and nonlinear physics
fields, to incentive collaborative international science programs, and to
identify and discuss the most relevant advances in the area. The MEDYFINOL
meetings have a good level of reconnaissance within the international
physics community because of the high level of the invited speakers,
contributed papers, as well as a significant student participation.
MEDYFINOL'04 will provide the opportunity to interchange ideas about
important developments and applications on the field, contributing
in this form to the possible nucleation of new inter-institutional
collaborating groups and encouraging the development of scientific
collaborations among scientist. Emphasis will be put in the participation of
Latin-America young scientists.
Subjects and scientific problems to be discussed include Biophysics, Fluid
Dynamics, Granular Media, Growth Dynamics, Kinetic Theory, Nonlinear
Dynamics, Nonlinear Optics, Pattern Formation and Spatio-Temporal
Complexity, Reaction-Diffusion systems, Stochastic Processes, Transport
Phenomena, Slow Dynamics, Brain Dynamics, Econophysics. Contributions with
applications of these concepts in inter-disciplinary areas are very much
welcome.
We would very much appreciate if you could confirm your participation by
registering in the page
http://www.dfi.uchile.cl/~medyfinol04
before September 30.
We hope to see you in La Serena, yours sincerely,
