POSTDOCTORAL ASSOCIATE, Urban Studies and Planning (DUSP)-SENSEable
City Laboratory (2 positions), to work with professors Carlo Ratti,
director of DUSP's SENSEable City Laboratory, and Marta C. Gonzalez of
Civil and Environmental Engineering on research on networks and their
interaction with people and space. The research specifically involves
the analysis and modeling of the social dynamics of cities through
networked telecommunications and mobility data.

Over the past several years, the SENSEable City Laboratory has
collected an unprecedented amount of data sources that will enable
researchers to address long-standing questions in social science,
economy, geography, and urban planning. Additional information about

REQUIREMENTS: a Ph.D. in electrical engineering, computation, software
engineering, mathematics, physics, transportation, or related area.
Seek independent and self-motivated individuals who are also able to
work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Technical
knowledge should include data management, e.g., database and
geographic information systems. Experience in data mining, machine
learning techniques, and statistical analysis desired. Experience with
network theory and complex visualizations are a plus. MIT-00006802
