Dear all,

the Portuguese Research Council (FCT) has announced its annual call for
Postdoc and PhD grants. Candidates apply directly to FCT but need the
endorsement of a resarch unit in Portugal.

CAUP is the leading Astrophysics research unit in Portugal, and the only
one given full marks ( 'Excellent', internationally competitive) by an
international evaluation panel appointed by FCT. We are willing to support
candidates in our areas of interest, but will carry out a pre-screening
of potential applicants. The galaxies & observational cosmology team will
preferentially support candidates that can contribute to our participation
in Euclid.

The call for postdoc grants (3 years, possibly renewable for a further 3)

and is open to candidates of any nationality.

For PhD grants (4 years) there are two options. There is a direct call for
candidates with official residence in Portugal for a minimum of one year,
at http://www.astro.up.pt/caup/index.php?WID=141&CID=1&ID=81&Lang=uk
Candidates of any nationality can apply through the IDPASC initiative,
which includes several thesis proposals from CAUP researchers, listed at
http://www.idpasc.lip.pt/LIP/thesis/index.php?opt=2
