Celebrate the Women of Optics and Photonics


The UN General Assembly has declared 11 February as the *International Day
of Women and Girls in Science*.  The OSA Foundation would like to honor the
women in optics and photonics through a special program driven by our
members. I encourage you to read some of the hundreds of remarkable stories
posted to date at osa.org/womeninscience

Please join me in submitting a recognition to honor a female who has made
an impact on your career, research or life. Mine, which you see above,
honors Dr. Jean Bennett, OSA's first female president. You can participate
by making a donation to the OSA Foundation's Annual fund in the amount of
$19.86 USD to honor the year Dr. Bennett became OSA's president. You will
then receive instructions for posting your own tribute.

Your honoree will receive an email notification of your tribute.
Additionally, March is Women's History Month and OSA will feature a unique
post each day of the month on OSA.org and our social media channels.

Tributes will be posted throughout 2019 highlighting women around the globe
who are driving innovation in our industry.  I look forwarding to seeing
your tributes in the days to come.
