AT THE FRONTIERS OF CONDENSED MATTER III:
NEW TRENDS IN STRUCTURAL, ELECTRONIC AND MAGNETIC PROPERTIES
Buenos Aires, Argentina, December 11-15, 2006
First Announcement
Dear Colleague:
The workshop "At the Frontiers of Condensed Matter III: New trends in structural, electronic and magnetic properties of matter" (FCM2006) is going to be held in Buenos Aires from December 11 to 15, 2006. Its main objective is to bring together researchers working at the frontiers of Condensed Matter Physics to present problems of current interest to the physics community of Argentina and Latin America.
This is the third of a series of FCM workshops. The first one took place in December 2002 (http://www.tandar.cnea.gov.ar/misc/FMC02workshop.php) and the second in June 2004 (http://www.tandar.cnea.gov.ar/misc/FCM2004.php).
FCM2006 is designed to bring together scientists interested in recent developments in several branches of fundamental and applied condensed matter.
FCM2006 should provide a forum for the presentation and discussion of new concepts, properties and developments in materials research and applications.
Scientific Program
The main activities of the workshop are going to be plenary talks given by specialists in their respective fields, short talks selected by the advisory committee and poster sessions organized to generate informal discussions and to promote collaborations. Students are going to be encouraged to actively participate in the poster sessions and discussions.
Topics
The scope of the conference includes the following topics:
.Highly correlated electron systems such as manganites, heavy fermions
and high Tc superconductors.
.Low dimensional systems including nanostructured materials.
.Diluted magnetic semiconductors and semiconducting heterostructures.
.General field theory applications and experimental techniques in
condensed matter.
