Dear colleagues

We would like to invite you to submit abstracts for NanoSmat 2007 where
several Symposia take place on different topics of Nanoscience and
Nanotechnology. At NanoSMat2007 I am also organizing the Symposium on
Nanotechnology Approaches, Nanomaterials and Thin Films for Energy
Technologies (More details about this Symposium can be found at the end of
this message or at:
http://vteixeira.com.sapo.pt/Nanomaterials_for_Energy_Technologies.htm )

NanoSmat 2007
International Conference on Surfaces, Coatings and Nanostructured
Materials
website: www.nanosmat.org/
9-11 July 2007, Algarve-Portugal
Abstract Deadline: 28 February 2007

NanoSMat is a biannual event of knowledge exchange and interactive
platform for researchers and engineers from industry, research
laboratories and academia. NanoSMat07 is the second of this series.
Following its success as NanoSMat-2005, NanoSMat07 will bring
together state-of-the-art developments on all aspects related to the
processing, characterization and applications of surfaces, coatings
and novel nanostructured materials.

INVITED KEYNOTE LECTURE

-Nobel Laureate Professor Sir H. W. Kroto, Florida State University,
USA
-Professor Jeff De Hosson, University of Groningen, Netherlands.
-Professor Stan Veprek - Technical University Munich, Germany

ABSTRACT Deadline: February 28

The NanoSMat 2005 edition it was a
great success! The papers were published in THIN SOLID FILMS: Vol
515, Issue 1, Pages 1-380 (2006) and CATALYSIS TODAY, Vol. 116,
Issue 1, (2006) pages 1-88.

In the 2007 edition the selected papers will be published in a
special issue of JOURNAL OF NANOSCIENCE AND NANOTECHNOLOGY (American
Scientific Publishers), htpp://www.aspbs.com/jnn

Besides the scientific aspects this conference will take place in a
5 star hotel with direct lift to the beach! (but there are nearby hotels
much less expensive). Just take a quick look at
http://www.nanosmat.org/venue.asp

NET-Symposium on Nanotechnology Approaches, Nanomaterials and Thin Films for
Energy Technologies

Most areas of nanotechnology are at an early stage of their development.
Research in nanoscience and nanotechnology will contribute to the achievement
of fundamental breakthroughs in nanomaterials and processes in energy systems.
In the near future nanotechnology will contribute to efficient and low-cost
systems for generating, storing, and transporting energy.

Materials and structures that are designed and fabricated at the nanoscale
level offer the potential to enhance efficiencies and reduce costs in solar
photovoltaic systems, solar thermal systems, fuel cells and other energy
technologies.

This symposium on nanotechnology for energy technologies was designed to bring
together different disciplines of energy technology and to discuss the
possible benefits of nanoscience and nanotechnology in their R&D efforts.
The symposium will also review the current state of knowledge in the field of
nanomaterials, functional surfaces and nanostructured coatings for efficient
energy systems as well present novel applications and current challenges and
opportunities.
We expect that this symposium could be also a gate way for high tech ideas and
to find partners in innovative research proposals for the new 7PQ of the
European Commission.

Main Topics covered:

The abstract submissions are now being accepted. Proposed topics include, but
are not be limited to production, characterization and modeling of:

Functional Surfaces and nanostructured coatings for energy systems
Nanotechnology for Efficient Energy Conversion
Selective nanostructured absorbers for thermal collectors
Photovoltaic Materials and Technologies
Thin film and organic Solar cells
Biovoltaics Technologies
Nanomaterials for Fuel Cell Technologies
