Los Departamentos de Computacion y Fisica organizan un Coloquio
extraordinario en ocasion de la visita del Profesor Josef Gruska
(quien es un destacado investigador del area de la informatica, que
trabaja actualmente en problemas vinculados al procesamiento cuantico
de la informacion).

"From quantum physics to quantum informatics and back"
                  Josef Gruska

Abstract:
Quantum information processing and communication (QIPC) science and
technology should be seen as both an attempt to develop a new, more
powerful, information processing technology and also as a new way to
get deeper insights into the physical world, into its laws and
limitations. QIPC gave rise to the quantum informatics (computer science) 
as the area of science combining goals and tools of both physics 
and informatics. As an area of science that brings also new paradigms, 
concepts, methods and tools to exploit potential of the physical world 
(for QIPC). The development of QIPC science and technology have been 
main original goals of quantum informatics, but its implications 
and contributions to the study of the physical, and especially quantum, 
world are far reaching, The talk will concentrate to demonstrate 
concepts, methods, tools, results and usefulness of quantum informatics 
for quantum physics.

Datos del orador:

Jozef Gruska (1933) with PhD (1966) in computer science, professor of
Faculty of Informatics, Masaryk University, Brno. Research interests:
languages and automata, descriptional complexity, quantum information
processing. Recent books: Foundations of computing (1997), Quantum
computing (1999).  Awards: Computer pioneer award of IEEE Computer society
(1996), IFIP Silver core medal; Bolzano medal of Czech Academy of Sciences
(2003), member of Academia Europaea. 15 years of long stays at leading
universities of Europe, America and Asia. About 130 papers. Founder 
of 4 regular international confernces. Currently, the head of two big 
research and PhD grants.
