Subject: PhD positions in Theoretical Physical Chemistry
2 PhD positions in Theoretical Physical Chemistry are available at the
department of Physical Chemistry at the University of Muenster, Germany.
Both projects are embedded in the framework of the center of excellence SFB
458, devoted to the study of the motion of mobile ions in materials with
disordered structures.
Our group is interested in the theoretical study of the microscopic
properties of these disordered systems, mainly by using computer
simulations. In both projects a strong interaction with experimental groups
is envisaged.
Project I: The properties of ionic liquids are explored with advanced
numerical methods to characterize their energy landscape. This yields
important information about the glass transition and the complex behavior in
the supercooled liquid state.
Project II: Polymer electrolytes are investigated via molecular dynamics
simulations. Of particular interest is the mutual influence of the ions and
the macromolecules. An extension to biological systems is planned.
Candidates should have a master or diploma degree in physics, chemistry or
materials science and be interested to work on a theoretical project
in an interdisciplinary research environment. A solid background in
statistical physics and computer simulations is desirable.
The University of Muenster wishes to increase the proportion of female
academic staff and therefore especially welcomes applications from women.
Handicapped persons with the same qualifications will be preferred.
We offer very good working conditions and payment corresponding to BAT IIa/
2. Please address questions and applications until August 15, 2006 to
