Theoretical studies of the water continuum

Applications are invited for a post-doctoral research position to work
as part of CAVIAR (Continuum Absorption at Visible and Infrared
Wavelengths and its Atmospheric Relevance), a NERC Consortium involving 5 
universitices and 3 institutes. The consortium will perform
and synthesise a co-ordinated set of new lab and field measurements
and numerical model calculations to improve understanding of the water
vapour continuum, an important contributor to atmospheric absorption.
The post doc will work in the group of Prof Jonathan Tennyson at UCL
and will be particularly responsible for the development of theoretical
models of how the water dimer absorbs at Visible and Infrared
Wavelengths at atmospheric temperatures. 
The successful applicant will be an energetic individual with a strong
academic record and specific experience in the area of
theoretical/computational chemistry or molecular physics, who has
recently completed a relevant PhD in Physics, Chemistry or a closely
related discipline. Good computation skills and interest in program
development are important. 
The Post-Doctoral Research Fellow is available for up to 4-years from
1 January 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter. Appointment will be
made on the lower end of UCL's grade 7: salary range 25,633 to
27,465 pounds per annum with an additional London allowance
of 2,472 pounds p.a.
