1st Workshop on Advanced Fluorescence Microscopy
September 3 -7, 2007, Physics Department, School of Sciences,
University of Buenos Aires, Argentina

The Quantum Electronics Lab (University of Buenos Aires), the
Laboratory for Fluorescence Dynamics (University of California at
Irvine) and the Gregorio Weber Laboratory of Proteins Thermodynamics
and Viral Structures (U.F. Rio de Janeiro) would like to invite you
to the ?First South-American Workshop on Advanced Fluorescence
Microscopy Techniques. Dynamics Through the Microscope: Fluorescence
Correlation Spectroscopy?.
It will be held at the University of Buenos Aires Sept. 3 -7, 2007.

The workshop will consist of theoretical lectures, a hands-on
laboratory course and computer-based training on data analysis and
simulations. It will focus on the advanced concepts of Fluorescence
Correlation Spectroscopy techniques. The laboratory course is designed
for students, researchers and industrial scientists who intend to
extend their knowledge of fluorescence microscopy techniques.

Key scientists in the field will deliver theoretical lectures. The
lectures will be complemented by the direct utilization of
fluorescence instrumentation.
Topics addressed in this course include:

* Principles of Fluorescence and Introduction to Microscopy

* Fluorescence Correlation Spectroscopy Techniques

* Introduction to Fluorescence Lifetime Imaging

Key lecturers include Dr. Enrico Gratton (University of California at
Irvine, United States), Dr. Oscar Martínez (Universidad de Buenos
Aires), Dr Susana Sanchez (University of California at Irvine, United
States), Dr. Valeria Levi (Universidad de Buenos Aires, Argentina),
Dr. Andre M.O. Gomes (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil),
Dr. Andrea C. Oliviera (Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro,
Brasil) and Dr. Luis Felipe Aguilar Cavallo (Universidad de Viña del
Mar, Chile).

The laboratory course is limited to 20 participants. Enrollment in the
lectures is free, but registration is required. Please register as
soon as possible and indicate if you would like to participate in the
laboratory course.
