       "Understanding Gamma-ray Bursts through their Host Galaxies"

I will talk about two different uses of Gamma-ray Burst (GRB) host
galaxies. As the first case, I will present the properties of the host
galaxy of GRB 011121 based on HST and VLT imaging data, in order to
study the connection between GRBs and their host galaxies. In the
second part of the talk I will present the analysis of spectroscopic
observations of the host galaxy of GRB 990712 covering the 6 years
after the burst. This analysis is used to study the circumburst
environment which would give us very important clues about the
properties of the GRB progenitors.
