Subject: post-doc in ultrafast cluster dynamics

Please, may I bring to your attention:

A 2-year post-doctoral position is available at the Durham University from 1
September 2007 to develop and employ a new femtosecond photoelectron imaging
experiment for the study of complex anions and anionic clusters.
The research group of Dr. Jan Verlet is currently developing a new experiment
capable of producing a wide range of anionic molecules and clusters, which will
form the basis of a research program aimed at studying ultrafast processes of
complex anionic systems in the gas-phase. The available position focuses on the
development and construction of the instrument in the first instance and initial
experiments will centre around the ultrafast photo-dissociation and -detachment
dynamics of multiply-charged anions, both as isolated species and solvated in a
solvent cluster.

Ideally, the candidate filling this position should have a background in
ultrafast spectroscopy or molecular dynamics with hands-on experience with
optical setups, detectors, electronics, ultra-high vacuum apparatus, data
collection and analysis.

Please, direct any informal enquiries to Dr. Jan Verlet (away 5-11 April) at
j.r.r.verlet en durham.ac.uk

Further details are available via the University's vacancies Web site at
http://jobs.dur.ac.uk (vacancy no. 1887)
or telephone 0191 334 6499; fax 091 334 6495

Closing date: 11 April 2007.
