SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE ÿÿ Ref: RA507

£28,290 to £33,780 per annum

This Post-doctoral Research Associate will apply advanced ultrafast laser spectroscopy to study the photodynamics controlling the operation of blue light sensing proteins. The methods will be extended to flavins in solution and other flavoproteins. The research will be based in the laboratory of Prof. Steve Meech UEA, Norwich, England. This is a collaborative program with Prof. Peter Tonge (Stony Brook University, New York), funded jointly by the NSF and EPSRC. The post is available for 2 years to start 1 October 2008 or as soon as possible thereafter.

You must have experience of advanced laser experiments, collection and analysis of data, and a strong interest in biophysics.  Enthusiasm for the research and good communication skills are important for the management of the collaboration, but direct experience in biological chemistry is not essential.
