Subject: Postdoc in Goettingen - Phase Change Materials
Postdoctoral Position
in Goettingen, Germany
on Phase Change Materials
A post-doctoral position (13 TV-L) is available in Goettingen in the research group of Martin Suhm, starting around July 2010 and initially for two years. The position can be extended by another up to four years, if a "Habilitation" (a qualification to apply for senior professor positions in Germany) is envisaged. It also involves participation in academic teaching in physical chemistry (English/German language). Applicants must hold a recent doctoral (PhD) degree in physical chemistry or molecular physics, subsequent postdoctoral experience is welcome. They should have worked in the field of intermolecular interactions, be familiar with the setup and use of modern experimental techniques and by preference also have gathered some experience in modelling.
The project will involve a range of fundamental investigations towards a better understanding of organic phase change materials, which find growing applications in thermal energy storage. Rather unique infrared and Raman cluster spectrometers to probe the conformational influence on molecular aggregation as well as an FTIR microscope are already available and can be complemented by thermal analysis tools. The research will be embedded in the planned Center for Advanced Studies for Energy Conversion in Goettingen.
Please send your application with cv, list of publications, references and optionally also sketches of planned projects to Prof. Dr. Martin Suhm, msuhm en gwdg.de, http://www.hbond.net .
