Resumen

 

Plasma Focus (PF) ion beams have become a subject of current interest for
its wide energy spectrum and thus applications in different material
processing areas. Thus the characterization of these ion beams has been a
subject of paramount importance. The information on ion beam energy, ion
distribution and composition is essential from the viewpoint of
understanding fundamental physics behind their production and acceleration
and also their applications in various fields. The talk will discuss the
results on ion beam emission spectrum of a low energy, 1.8 kJ 160 kA, Mather
type plasma focus device operating with methane and nitrogen gas using
Faraday cup (FC) and CR-39 nuclear track detectors. In additions some
possible applications of the ion beams in material science will be
discussed.
