Hola: El jueves 7 de junio a las 15 hs, en el aula E 24 del Pabellón I,
expondrá en el Coloquio del Departamento de Matemática la
Profesora Marie-Francoise Roy de la Universidad de Rennes 1, Francia.

Título: Elimination and applications to real root counting.

Resumen: Discriminants, resultants and subresultants are polynomials in the
coefficients of univariate polynomial which are vanishing if and only
if there are multiple roots or common roots.
They can be defined  through various matrices constructed from the
coefficients, or more intrinsically by Sylvester double sums, as
symmetric functions of the roots.
It turns out finally that they can be used also for real root counting,
and Cauchy index computation.
