We invite candidates to apply for MSc and PhD scholarships in Geophysics 
at University of São Paulo, Brazil. Research projects cover a broad 
range of topics both in Solid Earth and Applied Geophysics. Cutting-edge 
computational and laboratorial facilities together with field work 
opportunities make USP Geophysics Graduate Program recognized for its 
maturity and excellence. Several ongoing international collaboration 
projects and agreements allow the PhD student to apply for internship 
and/or double diploma at important Earth Sciences departments and 
laboratories outside Brazil.

The graduate program accepts BSc in Sciences (Physics, Mathematics, 
Chemistry), Earth Sciences (Geology, Geophysics, Oceanography, 
Meteorology), Engineering and High degree in Technology.

Candidates are selected on a competitive basis. Application for MSc 
opens twice a year whereas the application for PhD is continuous along 
the year. For 2012/2013, MSc application deadlines are June 8, 2012 and 
November 30, 2012.

CAPES and CNPq (Federal Research Councils) scholarships are assigned to 
the candidates based on their final classification by the selection 
committee. There are opportunities to apply for FAPESP (São Paulo 
Research Council), ANP (Agência Nacional do Petroleo) and Petrobras 
scholarships depending on the research project.
