*Persistence of Force Networks in Compressed Granular Media*

We discuss properties of force landscapes for isotropically
compressed particulate systems characterized by a wide range of packing
fractions.  The computational methods used are based on persistence diagrams
which allow for clear identification of mathematical properties of force
landscapes and help their physical interpretation.   We find that
using this technique which previously has not been applied to particulate
matter, a significant new information can be extracted, going much beyond
separation into `strong' and `weak' force networks.  The proposed approach
describes these networks in a precise and tractable manner, allowing to
identify novel features which could be difficult to describe using other
approaches.  We find significant differences between the systems
characterized
by varied polydispersity and frictional properties, indicating that the
mechanical response of these systems may differ considerably as well.
