Expositor: Donald K. Blumenthal, Departament of Pharmacology and
Toxicology

Título:
"Investigating large-scale conformational changes in signal transduction
proteins using small angle scattering".

Resumen:
He will start with an introduction to small angle x-ray scattering, then
give examples of studies with calmodulin, EPAC2, PKA, AKAPs and
calcineurin.
He will also discuss SANS and time-resolved SAXS with some examples of
recent studies.  A recurrent theme will be that signal transduction
proteins
are very dynamic and undergo large conformational changes and that they
interact to form a variety of signaling complexes that are also dynamic.
SAXS and SANS are solution methods that can provide many important
insights
into the structural changes that occur in these complexes that are
important for regulating the effects of cAMP, calcium, and other second
messengers
