Description:




The Brain Mechanisms of Pain Laboratory in the Department of  
Anesthesiology at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD)  
invites applications for a full-time postdoctoral position to join Dr.  
Zeidan’s Laboratory.

Our research focuses on the mechanisms supporting the cognitive  
construction and modulation of pain and health. We are particularly  
interested in the role of mindfulness, placebo and other behavioral  
approaches on pain relief employing multimodal methodologies including  
psychophysics, neuroimaging, pharmacology and psychology. We are  
currently conducting NIH-sponsored studies in healthy humans and  
chronic pain patients.

Preferred candidates will have a strong background in functional  
magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), clinical psychology, computer  
programming, and strong interpersonal skills.

Appointments and salary are commensurate with research experience and  
accomplishments following current UCSD guidelines.

functional neuroimaging and psychology. The successful applicant will  
be part of a vibrant research program focusing on the neuroscience of  
pain and health. Collaboration with faculty in the department as well  
as with scientists/clinicians in other departments at UCSD and the
