*Primordial B-modes and the Quest for Inflation: the QUBIC Experiment*
The polarization of the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) provides one
of the most powerful probes of the physics of the early Universe. In
particular, the so-called B-mode polarization pattern is expected to
contain the imprint of primordial gravitational waves generated during a
phase of cosmic inflation, a brief period of accelerated expansion
thought to have occurred fractions of a second after the Big Bang.
Detecting this signal would offer a unique window onto physical
processes at energies far beyond those accessible in terrestrial
laboratories.

Over the last two decades, increasingly sensitive experiments have
searched for primordial B-modes, leading to remarkable improvements in
instrumental sensitivity and foreground characterization. Although a
primordial signal has not yet been detected, current measurements have
placed stringent constraints on the tensor-to-scalar ratio,
significantly narrowing the allowed parameter space for inflationary
models.

In this talk I will review the theoretical origin of CMB B-modes, the
experimental challenges involved in their detection, and the current
observational status. Particular attention will be devoted to the QUBIC
experiment, a novel instrument designed to combine the sensitivity of
bolometric detectors with the systematic control offered by
interferometry through the technique of bolometric interferometry. I
will describe the instrument, its deployment in Argentina, and its
scientific potential in the search for primordial gravitational waves.
Finally, I will discuss the role of QUBIC within the broader
international effort to uncover the inflationary signature in the CMB
polarization.
