Invitation

You are cordially invited to take part in and to contribute to the XIX  
Latin American Symposium on Solid State Physics (SLAFES XIX). The  
event will be held in Puerto Iguazú, Argentina from 5 to 10 October,  
2008. The topics cover mostly the latest experimental and theoretical  
advances in the field of Condensed Matter Physics, and they can be  
found in the scope page at http://www.unl.edu.ar/slafes


Registration and Fees

Participants are encouraged to complete the registration form  
available on the official website: http://www.unl.edu.ar/slafes.

By August 5, 2008:

Regular $300 US dollars or ? 200

Student* $200 US dollars or ? 135


After August 5, 2008:

Regular $375 US dollars or ? 250

Student* $250 US dollars or ?170


*Students must offer a proof of their status which has to be sent with  
the registration form.


SLAFES XIX has not specifically allocated funds to provide financial  
assistance to participants who are giving papers at the conference.  
However some efforts are being made to provide assistance to young  
scientists who can demonstrate that they would not be able to attend  
without such assistance. Students wishing to apply for assistance  
should send in a recommendation from his/her professor confirming  
relevance to SLAFES. Please apply be sending an email to  
slafes08 en unl.edu.ar with the label "financial assistance" in the  
subject and the abstract information in the main text. no later than  
June 15, 2008. Financial assistance will be provided on a first-come /  
first-serve basis.

Abstracts

The abstracts should be written using LaTeX and the slafes.cls style  
file (based on 'iopmas' class style). It must provide concise  
information about the content of the contribution and indicate the  
main results obtained and conclusions drawn. As the abstract is not a  
short paper; no tables, figures, references or displayed mathematical  
expressions should be included. It should be suitable for direct  
inclusion in abstracting services and it should not exceed 200 words.  
The abstract should generally be restricted to a single paragraph.  
Since contemporary information-retrieval systems rely heavily on the  
content of titles and abstracts to identify relevant articles in  
literature searches, great care should be taken in constructing both.  
The abstract has to be sent by e-mail to slafes08 en unl.edu.ar and has  
to be labelled both in the subject and the filename with the surname  
of the first author followed by the initials of the name (for example:  
Garcia-CF.tex). An example and templates files can be found

Proceedings

Selected and refereed papers of the Conference will be published in  
Journal of Physics: Conference Series of IOP Publishing. This is an  
open-access journal and we are makng an effort to offer other printed  
formats (paper, CD). Regular papers should be nor exceed 5 printed  
pages. An electronic version of paper and two printed copies should be  
submitted on the first day of the conference. The details for the

Venue and Accommodation

All the scientific activities will be held at the Esturión Hotel &  
Lodge located in Av. Tres Fronteras 650 (N3370AWT) Puerto Iguazú,  
Argentina ( http://www.hotelesturion.com ).

SLAFES XIX attendants who lodge in the Esturión Hotel or in other  
selected hotels in Puerto Iguazú will be offered special rates. For
