Gerard G. Touchard

Electrofluidodynamic group, P’ Institute (UPR 3346, CNRS), Poitiers
University,ENSMA, France.

Gérard Touchard was born in France in 1944. He received the “Doctor és
Sciences Physiques” degree from the University of Poitiers, France, in 1978.
He established the Electro-Fluid Dynamics Group at the University of
Poitiers in 1977 and has remained its head during 30 years. He became a full
Professor in 1987. During 1980–1981, he was a Visiting Researcher at
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge and at University of
California, Berkeley, during 1993–1994. He has organized numerus
international conferences on electrostatics and is the author or coauthor of
more than 350 papers. His research interests focus on interactions between
flows and electrical phenomena. Dr. Touchard is a member of the Russian
Academy of Engineers. He established the Société Française d’Electrostatique
in 1997 and still remains its Chairman.

Resumen

The field of Electrofluidodynamic covers all the processes for which
interactions between fluids motion and electrical phenomena appear. In the
case of liquids we generally call these processes Electrohydrodynamic
processes.

Either flows can generate or modify electrical phenomena, or flows can be
generated or modified by electrical charges and fields. We will discuss
these different processes.
